If ANY of you happens to read this, just to let you know, I'm terribly grateful(You added colour into my life!). Well, if you were to drop by, remember to add a comment. LOL. GG NO RE. Link to learning journey website.

Learning Journeys refer to all trips out of schools which teachers and students embark on together to extend and enrich the educational experience. Besides helping to make real and concrete what has been learnt in schools, Learning Journeys will broaden the mental horizons of students and contribute to their total development.
Many key national Organisations have been invited to participate in the Learning Journeys Programme. Visiting these Organisations will give students the opportunity to understand what makes Singapore tick and instill pride in our achievements. Through such visits, our young will understand that hard work, the desire to excel, and readiness to take calculated risks, have allowed us to overcome many constraints which a small city-state has to face.
Learning Journeys are not relevant to National Education only. The Learning Journeys Programme can be made more meaningful and relevant to our students when schools plan the visits with multiple learning objectives in mind. With the recent emphasis on a multi-disciplinary approach, and the need to derive maximal educational benefits from every educational activity, schools can undertake these visits as an integral part of the formal curriculum, enhancing the learning experience of students.

We will help you learn how these outcomes give meaning to the cultural complexity of the ethnic groups we see in Singapore today!
The Asian Civilisations Museum has been chosen because it is where Asian cultures come alive!
Open your hearts and minds... be awed by what you see and experience. We hope you will be fascinated, informed and inspired by what you see.
Singapore is a melting pot of cultures and our heritage though different, should be appreciated by one and all. There is no one best culture, race or religion. You will learn that we all come from roots with impressive historical values.
To ensure that this journey is really a learning one, we will be handing out materials to aid your learning. Do check out the BANK page and click on the links, download worksheets and complete the little projects that is part of this entire experience.
At the end of your Learning Journey, you would be expected to fill in a survey and do a little itty bitty questionaire...
As your facilitators, we are glad to have a part in your learning journey. Let's learn about our cultural heritage now...

The Southeast Asia Galleries explore the heritage of the region and the ancestral links it has with Singapore. The historical as well as more recently developed collections form the basis for thematic displays which combine to illustrate the cultural complexity that is Southeast Asia. There are three galleries on Southeast Asia and these are arranged thematically. The main gallery covers the following: Prehistory, Hindu Buddhist Kingdoms, The Sinicised Southeast Asian, The Malay World and Tribal Southeast Asia – all deal to some extent with the question of identities and the development of East-West and North-South relationships which brought about the complex cultural mix of communities in the region. The second gallery Mary & Philbert Chin Gallery, explores The Material World of Southeast Asia with a focus on the jewellery and textile traditions, whilst the third gallery deals with the Performing Arts.Whilst the issue of cultural complexity should strike a chord with multicultural Singaporeans, it is hoped that the displays will also confront commonly held assumptions about how the region has been defined in the past, how a meaningful definition of Southeast Asia can be developed and where Singaporeans place themselves in the regional context.Interpretive methods including virtual hosts, interactive maps, and multimedia programs, trace the spacial and temporal dimensions of for example languages, ethnic groups, and the sociopolitical and ecological environments, as well as bring contemporary perceptions of ancient pasts into focus. It is no accident that this multi-dimensional approach should be taken by curators in Singapore; an island at the confluence of mainland and insular Southeast Asia, the crossroads of trade, of new ideas and ways of communicating.
